Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology

Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) is a scientific meeting on the subjects of bioinformatics and computational biology organized by the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB). Its principal focus is on the development and application of advanced computational methods for biological problems. It has been held annually since 1993 and has grown to the largest and most prestigious meetings in these fields.^[1] In recent years, the conference has been attended by between 1,500 and 2,000 delegates.^[1] ISMB has been rotating locations mainly between North America and Europe each year. When the meeting is in Europe it has been held jointly with the European Conference of Computational Biology (ECCB). The proceedings of the conference have been published by the journal Bioinformatics.

ISMB 2001 was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, at the Tivoli Gardens in the concert hall.

ISMB 2002 was held in Edmonton, Canada, at the Shaw Conference Centre.^[10]

ISMB 2003 was held in Brisbane, Australia, at the Brisbane Conference and Exhibition Centre.^[11]

ISMB/ECCB 2004 was held in Glasgow, UK, at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre.

ISMB 2005 was held in Detroit, USA, at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center.

ISMB 2006 was held in Fortaleza, Brazil at the Fortaleza Convention Center.

ISMB/ECCB 2007 was held in Vienna, Austria, at the Austria Center Vienna.

ISMB 2008 was held in Toronto, Canada, at the Toronto Convention Centre.

ISMB/ECCB 2009 was held in Stockholm, Sweden, at the Stockholm International Fairs.^[12]

ISMB 2010 was held in Boston, USA, at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center.^[13]

ISMB/ECCB 2011 was held in Vienna, Austria, at the Austria Center Vienna.

ISMB 2012 will be held in Long Beach, California, USA.
